The Wild Hearts - A Documentary Abo

The Wild Hearts - a documentary about dicks and freedom...

THE WILD HEARTS is a road movie about a young man’s search for identity, recognition and love. The film’s title refers to a Danish moped club called The Wild Hearts – a group of youths in their early twenties who want to find personal freedom through fellowship. The boys’ fellowship and individual dreams for the future are put to the test as they embark on their mopeds in Denmark on a journey through Europe to Pomerania in Poland. Maybe they will never return. The Wild Hearts is more than a club; it’s a state of mind that leads you through back roads into the depths of your soul. Freedom has its price! DIRECTORS NOTE: A BLOODY ROAD MOVIE ABOUT SOLIDARITY 12 boys... 1,200 kilometers... 30 kilometers-per-hour... by moped. THE WILD HEARTS is a road movie; therefore the central plot is the road trip to Pomerania. We have to follow this trip closely; we need to know where we are and where the boys want to go. A road movie is based on a specific journey. There’s preparation. There’s a stop – something happens. Something goes wrong. Another stop – then on. Faster. Something goes wrong that can’t be done over … Further, still faster … A new stop, a new struggle, a new problem. We follow all the elements that comprise this journey, all the exertions necessary to see the trip through. Exertions that are in vain if the trip fails. THE WILD HEARTS is a movie in direct continuation of my latest production, VESTERBRO - a youth film dealing with the ups and downs of two young lovers, Julie and Martin. The movie’s central plot is based on footage that was shot in the summer of 2007 of the boys’ month-long trip. The film’s central figures manifest themselves in the course of the travelling and the filming, where their individual and collective understanding is challenged to the limit. The film’s central plot is told linearly, and - like in a classic road movie or Homer’s Odyssey - the brave young men face constant new challenges: no money, no gas, no direction, no road and mechanical breakdowns. Some of the boys are too slow; others are too crude. There are fist fights and blood, there’s lewdness in a porno shop at the German border, temptations in Rostock, the curse of a crazy woman – and the big question of what the point of the trip actually is. Why Pomerania? Does life have a meaning? This movie exists on the border between real life and fiction, just as the boys themselves attempt to break the limits of what one soul can bear. This is a movie that needs to be made – and seen – with high octane in the blood! Michael Noer Director

Peninsula Women's Chorus Season Tic

Peninsula Women's Chorus Season Tickets for 2017-2018

WELCOME TO THE BEGINNING OF OUR NEXT 50 YEARS! After an exhilarating 50th Anniversary season, which culminated in a spring weekend joyfully bringing together singers, alumnae, audience members, supporters, past conductors, pianists, composers, and collaborators, we look forward to a new chapter. This season brings back Brittens masterful Ceremony of Carols in December and our popular New Music for Treble Voices Festival in March. Well explore music from our friends in Australia and New Zealand, as well as new works by accomplished young composers such as Mari Esabel Valverde, Jocelyn Hagen, and Julia Adolphe. Our journey culminates with our Full Circle spring concerts, a close-up look at the fascinating and eclectic musical possibilities the Bay Area has to offer. We are also excited to launch the 3-year Trailblazers Project, which will showcase new choral works celebrating historic women trailblazers who led the way to social change. We will pay homage to Harriet Tubman (an abolitionist, human rights activist and Underground Railroad organizer); Miss Major Griffin-Gracy (an iconic Bay-Area transgender activist and community leader); and Alice Paul (one of the most important and radical U.S. womens suffrage movement leaders). Choral music and the arts are gifts that keep on giving. The Peninsula Womens Chorus will continue to make waves with transcending, challenging, enriching, provocative and uplifting music that the world needs more than ever. We look forward to what the next half-century has in store for all of us. This package includes one ticket to each of our four concerts of the 2017-2018 season. In order for our Ticket Office to handle Season Tickets properly, they must be purchased as Will Call tickets, although we will mail them to you by September 30. Season Ticket orders received after that date will be held at the Will Call desk. Our concerts for the 2017-2018 season: To Everything There Is A Season October 7, 2017 7:30 pm Pete Seeger's immortal folk ballad, Turn, Turn, Turn is the perfect framework to bring audiences the works of contemporary composers like Ola Gjeilo, Jake Runestad, and Kim André Arneson whose music contemplates loss and life's storms as well as evoking moments of joy and peace. The Chorale begins its 24th season with a concert of incredible beauty and depth. Desert Voices of Christmas December 9, 2017 7:30 pm As the song says, it's the most wonderful time of the year. We think it's wonderful because music is everywhere - whether it's the jingle of bells or the sound of voices raised in recognition of the miraculous and the joys of the season. You're invited to share with us in a classically rich and glorious celebration of the hap-happiest season of all. All The Earth, Sing As One March 3, 2018 7:30 pm Following acclaim from the 2016 performance of Requiem for the Living, the Chorale is again combining with chamber orchestra to bring Dan Forrest's newest work, Jubilate Deo, to the Valley. The familiar words of Psalm 100, O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands are conveyed through seven languages and musical styles reflecting the universality of the psalmist's directive to praise and give thanks as all the earth sings as one. Long Road To Freedom May 5, 2018 7:30 pm The Chorale closes its 24th season with a story of survival - the journey in song of African people in bondage from slavery to emancipation. For slaves, songs served to ease the burdens of captivity and to speak of freedom in this world and the next. In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., They thought about a better day as they dreamed their dream. Join the Chorale as it shares this important part of our American musical heritage.
